Journal Assignment #1:How Current Trends Relate to History


Peplum orignated in anicent Greece, as a Greek word for Tuinc. An Peplum is a short overskirt or ruffle attached at the waistline of a dress, jacket or top. The silhouette's is associated with the forties, fifties, and the eighties. Women wore peplum coats and dresses to draw attention to their waist and create an hourglass figure. This style has made a comeback in 2009 and now spring 2011 bring back more of a ladylike style. Over time the peplum overskirt and\or ruffle silhouette is design in different cuts and styles, the skirt underneither the overskirt/ruffle is now shorter and comes with a side split
